Windsor Police have issued a warning after they have received several complaints about a letter notifying people that they have been selected as a “Customer Service Evaluator”.

Police say that a business cheque accompanies the letter with instructions to cash the cheque and to wire funds to a couple of numbers. They are then advised that they can shop at local stores of their choice and spend $100.   After making purchases, the they are asked to fill out a survey about customer service at the selected stores.

The cheques that are enclosed in the letters are fraudulent, and police say that essentially, the person who receives this letter and cheques are being asked to cash a fraudulent cheque at a bank, and to wire the funds to the fraudsters who are believed to be out of province.

Police ask that you call them at 519-255-6700 ex 4330 if you have any information regarding this investigation.
