Windsor Police are investigating an attempted robbery that took place late Sunday evening.

Police say that a 54-year-old male was at his apartment at 2950 Elsmere watching football, and when the game concluded, he went out to the parking lot of his apartment building to his car looking for some cigarettes.

Not finding any, he went back to the building, and just before getting inside the entry way door he heard someone ask him if he had any money.

The man turned around and told the male he did not have any money, and the suspect then told the complainant to give the suspect everything he had. The complainant told the suspect to get lost.

The suspect then took a swing at the complainant with his right hand. The complainant felt a burning sensation on his arm and discovered he was bleeding from a slash wound which was 3-4 inches in length and on his forearm just beneath the elbow.

The suspect appeared to have been scared away by some noise in the parking lot so he fled towards the back of he apartment building.

The complainant went inside and wrapped up his arm and sat down falling asleep. When he awoke this morning he saw his arm was still bleeding so he went to hospital.

The victim ended up receiving ten stitches to close the wound.

The suspect was described only as a black male with a Jamaican sounding accent. He was about 5-10 – 5-11″ tall, he had shoulder length dread locks wearing a dark coloured winter style jacket.

Police are asking for the public’s help and ask if anyone was in the area last night who either saw or heard something to call police or Crime Stoppers.
