Construction is well under way on the University of Windsor campus on a new seven floor parking structure which set to open in the summer.

The new parking garage will hold approximately 1000 cars, but the amount of new spaces it will create will be considerably less. The University plans to close several parking lots as part of their Campus Transformation Plan which will see a substantial amount of green space added to the campus.

A proposed closure of Sunset Avenue between Wyandotte and Fanchette street this summer as well will cut off access to several smaller inner campus lots.

The University plans to close Lot D, also known as the visitor lot on the northwest corner of Sunset and Wyandotte, Lot T on the west side of Sunset behind the Music Building, Lot K on the west side of Sunset between Wyandotte and Fanchette, Lot L on the east side of Sunset behind the Odette Building, Lot W on the east side of Sunset next to the Medical Education Building, and Lot O behind the University maintenance building on the bend of Huron Line.

The temporary lot built on top of the old Cody Hall site will be torn up this coming summer and also turned into green space.
