Yesterday at approximately 6:50pm, a Leamington OPP officer on duty was travelling westbound on County Road 34 just east of County Road 37 in Leamington, when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on the same road heading in the opposite direction.

The vehicle was travelling more than 50 km/hour over the speed limit. The officer pulled the black GMC pickup over, found open alcohol inside the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired.

Eric Scoggins, age 24, of Stoney Point has been charged with the following offences:

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Exceed 80 mgs Blood Alcohol Content
Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
    Stunt Driving
Drive Motor Vehicle, no Currently Validated Permit

He will appear in a Leamington court January 17th.

Honestly people need to stop being such idiots and stop putting the rest of the city in danger. If your going to drink STAY OUT OF YOUR CAR! There is no excuse for it! I hope the cops stay on the roads until they get every last one of these morons there have been way to many drunk drivers lately.
