Essex OPP are investigating the theft of two snowmobiles from a residence in the 500 block of Lypps Beach in Essex, sometime in the early morning hours of Saturday December 1st.

Police say that the snowmobiles were contained in an enclosed trailer, which was recovered the following morning, minus the sleds. The first stolen snowmobile is a yellow 2001 Skidoo. The second is a 2008 Yamaha, white, black and red in colour.   They are both pictured above.   The sleds are valued in excess of $5000.

The owners of the sleds were planning a family Christmas vacation surrounding the use of the snowmobiles.

Police are asking anyone with information with regards to this theft, to contact the Essex County Street Crimes Unit at 519-723-2491.

The OPP would also like to remind the public that with the upcoming holiday season quickly approaching, crimes such as theft are on the increase. Take extra time and care in securing personal property and observing for suspicious behaviour. Do not hesitate to call police if you see a crime happening.
