Mayor Eddie Francis announced this evening that President and Chief Executive Officer, Federica Nazzani will be leaving the helm of Your Quick Gateway (Windsor Airport) at the end of 2012 to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

“Federica has been and continues to be an outstanding President and CEO with the full support of the YQG Board. In 2007, she led the seamless transition from Serco Aviation Services to the formation of a new organizational structure. Federica has strengthened YQG’s financial position and returned it to financial stability during one of our region’s most economically turbulent times, securing 3 major carriers, Sunwing, Porter and WestJet and an unprecedented 140% growth in passengers. She was also instrumental in the City and region’s diversification strategies, participating on a number of economic development initiatives and most notably, spearheading the introduction of a new industry in maintenance, repair and overhaul aircraft services (MRO)”, said Mayor Francis.

“When first appointed to the role of General Manager in early 2007, Federica intended to stay for one year to oversee the transition to a new operator and we are grateful for her continued commitment to remain until 2012. She notified us of her plans early this year so that the transition process could be underway. At my request, Federica will continue to consult with us on an as needed basis on two economic development files we are in the process of bringing to a successful conclusion, as well as other airport matters,” added Mayor Francis.

Ms. Nazzani said her decision to leave Your Quick Gateway on December 31, 2012 coincides with the end of the Airport’s fiscal year and five-year Strategic Plan. “After almost 6 years at YQG, my decision to step down is bittersweet. I live and breathe the Windsor International Airport every day and am most proud of the relationship that I have built with my team and airport community. The fact is that I am surrounded by many very talented and capable Directors, managers and staff who amaze me each day with their expertise, dedication and energy”, said Ms. Nazzani.

“When I was first appointed to the role, the Windsor International Airport faced some extremely significant challenges as we set out to re-invent our business and brand, gain financial stability and be an economic contributor to our region through diversification. During the tough economic times that faced us, we overcame hurdles together and stayed focused on our vision and goals”  she added.
