OPP Investigating Two Crashes a Minute Apart at The Same Intersection in Tecumseh

The OPP in Tecumseh were busy Thursday evening responding to two separate crashes about a minute apart at the same intersection.

It all started at 6:40pm at Essex County Road 46 at Essex County Road 43. A 22-year-old male driving a Pontiac Grand Am, was heading southbound on Essex Road 43 when he experienced a mechanical malfunction and proceeded through the intersection and landed in a ditch. He was not injured in the crash.

Then about one minute later, a 19-year-old female was driving eastbound in a Chrysler Sebring on Essex Road 46 while at the same time a 19-year-old male was westbound on Essex Road 46 driving a Ford pickup truck. The female turned southbound onto Essex Road 43 in front of the pickup causing the two vehicles to crash.

Police say that both drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries, and that both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The investigation is continuing in both crashes.
