A 25-year-old has died following a tragic incident at Malden Park.

Firefighters and EMS responded just before 2am last night to Malden Hill and found a man who had been tobogganing with friends.

The 25-year-old was taken to Hotel Dieu where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that a group of friends who work together at a local restaurant made arrangements to go tobogganing after work last night. The group met at Malden Park at approximately 11:30pm. Police say the group made several trips down the hill. During a walk back up the hill a witness described looking back to talk to the victim. It was at this time that the witnesses discovered that the victim was down.

Police say that the group of friends discovered that he had fallen backwards into a tree and was not responsive.

Police are treating the incident as a tragic accident. There is no evidence of any foul play in relation to his death.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
