Wind Mobile’s network is turned on in Windsor, according to the company’s service location map, and the discount carrier is gearing up for an official launch event next week.
Wind, which announced a plan for network expansion on May 26th of this year, will have full coverage in the area after building four new cell towers. The latest to be built, pictured in this story, went up in South Windsor just last week.
The fairly new Canadian mobile phone provider, which launched service to major Canadian municipalities in 2009, paid $442-million in 2008 for a portion of the Canadian wireless spectrum and recently hit 500,000 subscribers.
Wind Mobile is known for their easy-to-understand, highly competitive, low cost, unlimited voice, texting and data plans. Next Wednesday’s launch event is set to be announced soon and the company plans to donate money to a local charity as part of the event.
