The University Players preset their latest production, Welfarewell, starting this weekend.

Welfarewell is about a retired actress living off a meagre pension. She is arrested for burying her cat in the front yard, because she has no money for a “proper” cremation. However, after a night in the slammer, she realizes all her problems could be solved: she has three square meals, heat, and free medication! She then commits a series of bizarre crimes all to stay in jail.

The play runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm in the Essex Hall Theatre in the middle of the University of Windsor campus. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $19 for students and seniors.
