University of Windsor students and west-end commutters had to contend with a flooded roadway this morning after a fire hydrant let go, turning a street into a river.

Water started pouring out of the hydrant in front of the University of Windsor sign at the corner of University and Patricia around 10:15am this morning and within a half hour, the entire road was flooded (see picture).

Eight Windsor Utilities trucks and their crews worked on scene to stop the water flow. A Windsor Utilities employee says the water should be drained from the roadway by 1pm.
