Three local subjects have been arrested after an investigation into an large scale theft from an elderly woman and what the RCMP is calling elder abuse.

After a six-month joint operation by the RCMP, Windsor Police and the Canada Border Services Agency, police believe that three subjects, by power of attorney and other means, had been stealing large sums of money from the victim over a period of several years.

The three subjects are currently in custody while the investigation continues.

The following people have been charged:

Ali Moustafa Merei (47yrs) of Windsor, Ontario has been charged with Theft over $5,000.00, two counts of Possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of Laundering the proceeds of crime, Obstruction of justice, Perjury and Making false statement in affidavits.

Frank Siller (49yrs) of Windsor, Ontario has been charged with Theft over $5,000.00, two counts of Possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of Laundering the proceeds of crime, Obstruction of justice, Perjury and Making false statement in affidavits.’

Zeinab Merhi (25yrs) has been charged with Possession of property obtained by crime and Laundering the proceeds of crime.

“This is an excellent example of continuing work with our policing partners to address the crimes against elderly in our community“, stated RCMP Inspector Serge Cote.
