The Essex County OPP has just released information, and is requesting the public’s assistance, with an incident that took place back in August.

An elderly employee of a Tecumseh Shopper’s Drug Mart was conducting a cash deposit at the Green Valley TD Bank on Manning Road in Tecumseh on August 30th, 2012 at approximately 2:20pm. The employee was approached near the drop box, struck over the head by an unknown object and forced to the ground. The employee was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

A cash deposit bag containing more than $7,500 was taken from the employee.

The OPP are actively investigating the incident as a robbery and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the unknown assailant. He is described as male, 25-30 years old, 160 pounds with a thick full beard (which was possibly a disguise). He was wearing a skull cap, a red t-shirt, sunglasses and shorts. He was seen leaving in a black smaller compact vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding this crime should contact the Essex County OPP Crime Unit at 519-723-2491.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
