A serious collision Thursday afternoon has sent a boy to a Detroit Hospital and sent three adults to Windsor hospital.

Police say it happened just after 5:40pm Thursday afternoon at County Road 42 and Eighth Concession when a 2002 Chevy Cavalier was traveling westbound on County Road 42.

The car slowed and then made a left turn directly across the path of a 2011 Ford pickup truck. A 7-year-old child in a child seat was severely injured and was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

The child was subsequently sent to Children’s Hospital in Detroit for advanced care.

The 44-year-old male driver and his 64-year-old female passenger both of Windsor who were seated in the front of the Cavalier were taken to hospital for examination.

The 36-year-old male driver of the pickup truck, also from Windsor, was also injured and he was taken to Hotel Dieu Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police say that a third vehicle, a 1993 escort which was stopped on 8th concession, was slightly damaged after being struck by the vehicles from the primary collision.

The male driver was not injured, but was a witness to the collision. The road was closed for several hours and the Windsor Police Accident Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to commence their investigation.

The accident remains under investigation and there is no information about charges until the collision reconstruction unit completes their investigation.
