The Windsor Hospitals Study task force has released a draft report on the prospect of a new, single site acute care hospital which will serve Windsor and Essex County residents into the future.

The task force which is made up of MPP Teresa Piruzza, Dave Cooke and Tom Porter began their work in July.  The initial round of public feed back has been with local health care experts, including board members, senior administrators, physicians and labour representatives from both Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital.

The task force’s draft report states that “all groups consulted thus far have expressed their support in moving forward provided that various considerations are properly discussed in the next round of planning/discussions, and provided that they are given the opportunity to remain engaged.”

Further discussions are planned through September and into early October with details of those to be finalized soon.

If approved, construction of the new hospital is still right to ten years away and would cost over a billion dollars.   You can read the complete study online here.
