Windsor’s very own innovation incubator, the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator, has launched an ambitious plan to create jobs while diversifying Windsor’s local economy and job market.
“This is a great day for Windsor and Essex County,” said Jack Jorgensen, President of Advanced Business Systems and the chair of a new group comprised of twelve of Windsor’s most successful business owners called Coalition 12.
“Today we’re laying a ground work…that will help create hundreds of successful businesses, savvy business owners, and potentially thousands of new jobs right here in Windsor-Essex,” exclaimed Jorgensen. “We want to help to turn Windsor and Essex County into a self-sustained, diversified community.”
Coalition 12 will assist in igniting entrepreneurial spirit, supporting citizens of Windsor-Essex with ideas to turn their ideas into successful businesses and ultimately employing companies. The Coalition plans to re-energizing economic development, and making Windsor-Essex the hotbed for new business development.
“The future success and sustainability of Windsor-Essex County will most certainly be driven, by entrepreneurship and small business”, said Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator President Jeff Flacks.
In the face of dire economic times and workplace erosion, Coalition 12 will be tasked with one-on-one mentoring of entrepreneurs, transitioning ideas into economic success and reenvisioning Windsor-Essex as a centre for innovation.
The Coalition’s mentors include ultra-successful local business icons Dr. Fouad Tayfour (Windsor Laser Eye Institute), Andrew Tepperman (Tepperman’s furniture), Barry Zekelman (JMC Steel Group), Marty Solcz (Valiant Corporation), Pat Soulliere (Soulliere Financial Group), James Scott (Ground Effects Ltd.), Glen Muir (RE/MAX Preferred Realty Ltd.), Max De Angelis (De Angelis Construction Inc.), Jack Jorgensen (Advance Business Systems Inc.), Martin (Marty) Komsa (Windsor Family Credit Union), Randall James Moir (Moir Crane Service Ltd), Terry Rafih (Rafih Automotive Group), and many more.
The Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator, located at 720 Ouellette, houses 22 startups currently and has room for citizens in Windsor-Essex with ideas they believe can help transform our region.
