This past week, Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis was in Moscow attending the FINA World Convention.

Mayor Francis along with representatives of Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island and the Detroit Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau; Lisa Schott, President of the Aquatic Federation of Canada; and Pierre Lafontaine, the CEO of Swimming Canada were making the final pitch of the Windsor/Detroit bid to host a 25-Metre World Swimming Championship.

Windsor/Detroit, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates (city to be confirmed) are the final three candidates for the 2016 and 2018 Championships.

Windsor will have two chances to win on December 11, as FINA plans to announce the host of both the 2016 and 2018 Championships if two bids are deemed capable of hosting.
