A run in with Essex County OPP has left a man with facial injuries and an open case with the Province’s SIU.

Essex County OPP attempted to arrest a man in the town of Essex around 2:15am on October 28th while investigating an impaired driving incident.

The suspect fled on foot and police pursued the suspect through the town of Essex. Police caught the suspect a short time later at which point the suspect resisted arrest and assaulted police.

OPP located the suspect a short time later at his residence and during attempts to arrest him, the man sustained injury to his face. He was taken to hospital and treated for injuries sustained during the confrontation with police.

OPP have charged 50 year old Roger Sabourin from Essex, Ontario with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resist Arrest and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest.

Due to the fact the man was injured during the incident, the OPP contacted the Province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to investigate.
