Banners have gone up along streets in Downtown Windsor showing the city’s support for the Detroit Tigers as they make a run for World Series victory.

The banners were approved by Windsor City Council Monday night, and cost up to $10,000.  The city plans to sell the banners after the series to recoup some of the costs.

Dear City !!! REALLY !! 10 grand on banners for detroit tigers .how about donating that money to coats for kids..they are about 2000 coats short. or how about the food bank, who are also hurting..you want everyday people who are all ready strapped for cash to give to these charities..which i might add i dont mind doing. but to spend money like that on banners!! I sure hope when you sell them and the money you so call recoup . you put towards these causes. disgusting!! you should be ashamed all of you !

What a waste of money that could have went to the Downtown Mission or something useful. Driving down Riverside Drive this morning I noticed that several of the signs were ripped/tattered due to the storm.
