Windsor Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a cab driver back in June and were caught on surveillance camera.

On Thursday June 21st at approximately 3:30am, Windsor Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Gladstone Avenue for a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, a 52 year old male cab driver.

Police determined that the victim received a call to attend the 1500 block of Polonia Park to pick up a fare.

Two males entered the cab and indicated that they wanted to go to Gladstone Avenue and Wyandotte Street East. The driver drove them to the 500 block of Gladstone Avenue and stopped his cab.

One of the males indicated that he needed to go inside his residence to get cash for the fare. The same male gave the driver his wallet to hold as collateral while he got the money. As this happened, the second male exited the cab and walked around the front of the vehicle.

He was reaching inside his pockets. The victim felt that this male was about to pay him for the fare. The victim gave the first male his wallet back.

The second male walked up to the victim and instead of paying, he grabbed the victim by the throat and demanded all of his money. The driver broke free of the hold and put his vehicle in drive and left the area. The two males were last seen in the 500 block of Gladstone.

Police were able to extract photographic images from the cab’s security camera recently.

Police are asking for anyone who may recognize these males to call the Investigative Branch at (519)255-6700 ex 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (519)258-TIPS (8477).
