It took three Windsor fire engines to supply enough hose, but a fire is out at the rear of a long lot at the corner of County Road 42 and Lauzon.
Firefighters were called after 10pm tonight for a report of chipped wood and wooden pallets/skids on fire.
Arriving firefighters found heavy flames shooting from the pile but the nearest fire hydrant was a significant distance away.
Two additional fire engines arrived to supply the necessary 200+ metres of large-diameter hose and crews were able to attack the blaze at last.
A fourth vehicle, a ladder truck was called to the scene but returned when the initial crews had the pallet fire under control.
Fire crews required the assistance of heavy equipment to pull the pile apart in order to reach remaining pockets of fire.
It’s unclear at this hour how the fire started. Police are investigating.
