Police have a 42-year-old man in custody after he robbed a store and left a trail of coins back to his hiding spot.

On Sunday September 16th at around 6:30am, Windsor Police were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of Wyandotte Street East after an employee of the business heard the sound of glass breaking from the front of the building.

Police say that as the employee went to investigate, he observed a suspect running away with the business’ cash drawer. The suspect took off on the employee’s bicycle. The employee chased the suspect for a short distance but abandoned his chase after the suspect threatened him.

A short time later, Police say a citizen called 911 to report that they had observed a male riding a bike with a cash drawer. The witness observed the male run into a residence in the 800 block of Brant Street.

According to the witness, loose change was falling from the drawer as the male rode his bike and ran into the residence.

Police located the suspect hiding inside a closet with the cash drawer.
