Construction and streetscaping of Wyandotte West near the University of Windsor is still underway and the University of Windsor is advising that work will present some delays and detours for University students as classes resume next week.

Construction crews have been working nearly seven days a week to complete the project between Sunset and Randolph before its September 28th deadline and work has advanced to nearly Bridge Avenue.

The University says they’ve learned that the block between Sunset and California is planned for completion by September 7th. The other areas of Wyandotte that are nearly complete will follow shortly thereafter.

The road surface between Sunset and Askin was finished last week and sidewalks will be poured soon along the stretch.

The Crosstown 2 Transit Windsor route that normally runs along Wyandotte Street West has been detouring since May along University (Eastbound) and College (Westbound).

The University says alternate east-west roads such as University and College will provide access to the main campus for vehicular traffic. Wyandotte has remained open to pedestrian traffic since the start of construction.

The entire project between Sunset and Campbell is scheduled for completion at the end of the 2012 construction season.

For more information on the new designs planned to enhance the look of the street, see this article.
