Tecumseh Road East as seen from Google Streetview

Just after 2am this morning, Windsor Police officers were parked in the lot of the Canadian Tire located at 8505 Tecumseh Road East when from their open window, they could hear a loud revving of an engine on Tecumseh Road.

Police saw a 2006 Chevrolet pass a car in the curb lane at a high rate of speed heading eastbound. The vehicle struck the curb and began to spin in a circular motion. It crossed the westbound lanes of traffic and struck a hydro pole on the drivers side. Police attended the vehicle immediately and EMS transported the driver to Hotel Dieu Hospital.

A 45 year old Windsor man is facing a charge of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

It was just a matter of time before an accident happened there. Too many cars go flying down that lane just to cut in front of everyone else. I had a driver one night almost ram into me when he decided to veer into my lane, and a police car was right in front of us! Maybe this area should be monitored on a regular basis. And since when is it legal to cross a solid line???
