Walkerville Theatre (Google Street View)

Windsor Police have arrested and charged five young men for breaking into the old Walkerville “Tivoli” Theatre.

Officers were dispatched to the theatre at 1564 Wyandotte Street East at around 6:10am on Saturday for a report of a break and enter.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an insecure door at the rear of the building. Police say their officers could hear male voices coming from inside the building.

Officers announced themselves and commanded the males to exit the building. Police say the voices then fell silent.

Officers entered the building and found the males in the open theatre area.

Five males, aged 19, 20, 21, 22 and 29 were arrested without incident for a charge each of “Breaking and Entering”.

The Walkerville Theatre has been closed for years and is up for sale.
