Fire is out at a home in the 900 block of Rankin in the Bridgeview area.

Crews were called to the scene for reports of a roof on fire and found smoke coming from a second story window upon arrival.

A neighbour who called 911 said heard a door slam and observed someone running south along Rankin Avenue from the house at around the time the fire started.

Police confirmed that the house was vacant.

Bridgeview Neighbourhood Watch troops were out in force at the scene of the fire and spoke with Police to offer their assistance.

The fire appears to have originated in the kitchen area and the Windsor Police Arson Squad is investigating.
