Just after 3 this morning police were called to the downtown McDonalds at 93 Wyandotte Street East for a report of a large brawl.

Police say that when they arrived there was over sixty people in the parking lot and at least ten were fighting. As more police arrived on the scene, police say that people started to disperse.

Police found a 24-year-old male lying in the parking lot whom they say had been assaulted. His injuries appeared to be serious and he was rushed to hospital.

A witness told police that the victim and some friends had been drinking at a bar in the downtown area and went to McDonalds for some food. The 24-year-old victim became involved in an altercation and was assaulted by being kicked in the head by two to four people.

A friend of the victim, a 22-year-old male who was in the McDonalds went to his aid and he too was assaulted by being punched in the back of the head. He was brought to the hospital but was eventually treated and released.

The 24-year-old male who had bleeding on the brain was held for further diagnostic testing. Police sent out a broadcast to other units with the description of two of the four suspects and officers in the area arrested two males fitting the descriptions provided.

A 27-year-old male was arrested without incident near Wyandotte and McDougall and a second 20-year-old male was arrested after a short foot pursuit from the same area. Police say that the matter is still being investigated by detectives and charges of assault bodily harm are planned.
