Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital on Ouellette Avenue

A task force has been launched to look at the needs of future hospital services, and where those services are provided in the Windsor region, with a focus at looking into building a new, single site acute care hospital.

The task force is looking for input from local health care experts and community stakeholders to answer the following questions:

    • Would a new, single site acute care hospital improve the delivery of acute care services in Windsor-Essex?
    • Would a new single site acute care facility provide good value for money?
    • If there is community support for a new hospital, what other considerations must be addressed during subsequent planning phases?

Today a website was launched, and Windsorites are asked to visit it, read the consultation paper and provide feed back to the members of the task force.   Consultation with he community will take place all summer long with a recommendation expected sometime late fall.

Consolidation of our 2 hospitals into one “mega-hospital” is a reason for concern. We have already lost one of our hospitals (Grace) and emergency services at another (Windsor Regional). Bring all services into one mega site (out in the suburbs?) will be a move that brings services away from the people. This is no different that when they consolidate 2 or 3 schools into 1 mega school that forces children to be bussed from miles away. Consolidate hospitals and it will take that much longer to get there when there is an emergency.

Need to prevent the illness, not try to cure it afterwards. Why not find away to impose penalties to the all the factories, US and Canadian, that are poisoning our air and making people here sick. We need the clean up the city of sickness causing problems. Enforce litter laws more strongly the like to get trash off the streets that attract disease carrying pests. Put in electric car friendly charging stations and electric bike rentals. More bike friendly routes around the city for commuting, not just recreation use.
