    A collision Friday morning between an eBike and a car resulted in minor injuries to the bike driver.

    Police say that an eBike driven by a 40-year-old male was travelling north along McDougall in the bike lane, and when it reached Shepherd Street a 2002 Chevrolet, which was also travelling north on McDougall, made a right turn not seeing the e-bike which had the right of way travelling through the intersection on a green light and struck him.

    The e-bike rider’s leg was slightly injured and he was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. There was no damage to either vehicle and he 63-year-old male was charged with making an unsafe turn.

      I have seen AUTO drivers run stop signs, red lights, cut off pedestrians, race ebikes to a stop signs and cut them off, talk on cell phones, put on makeup, turn around to yell at children in their car…. what’s your point? There are bad drivers in every form of transportation.

      And for the record, I have an ebike, and have for 5-6 years. I have never had a DUI and haven’t lost my driving privileges; and also own a car. Stop prejudging people based on their choice of transportation. This is the second time of PROVEN AUTO DRIVER FAULTS. Pay attention.

      Katie, you are totally correct. The vast majority of people riding ebikes are tax paying citizens choosing to make smarter choices (financially, environmentally etc…). Compared to the rest of the world North America and apparently Windsor is decades behind reality. Whether it be an ebike or a bicycle the recent accidents of cyclists and ebike riders have been the fault of the automobile driver!

      How ignorant can people be who take the time to post and say ban ebikes. It’s clear we should be banning cars or doing something to make them safer. So what would have insurance done to protect the guy on the ebike who was hit because another automobile driver wasn’t paying attention? Sounds to me like the ebike rider should be legally allowed to sue the driver for being at fault and causing bodily injury! Who’s hurt once again in this situation?

      Sounds like Windsor has too many unionized autoworkers fearing that sub $2000.00 eco friendly, cost effective and “safe” modes of transportation making the automobile a choice for lazy and financially irresponsible automobile owners!

      1 less car on the road will create less traffic, be better for our health, possibly create less wars, allow us to commute more efficiently etc…… How is this a bad thing?

      Ebikers, cyclists, automobile drivers and pedestrians no obeying the rules of the road are what causes accidents, not the vehicles.

      People time to use the web and “Google” search the facts before posting such uneducated, non factual content on the web. You should be fined for being lazy…. oh yeah most of you are because you need a car to go to the corner store!

      the trouble with all these naysayers are they havent rode an ebike they think they are the only ones that can use the roads i have paid taxes all my life so ithink my tax dollars helped to pay for these roads i am more eco friendly then what you are with your car and your emissions test which you are still putting crap in the air i dont with my e bike people like you are probably the jerks that try to run us off the road how many accidents has an ebike been in in the last couple off weeks not near as many as cars take the cars off the road of course not you like paying the high coast of gas, insurance what is the cost of a motor for your car 3,000.00 my motor costs me 350.oo give yourself a good shake buy an e bike it will save you a lot of money when it comes time for repairs

      Dr. Alex, well said… john holland, though i agree with your comments, i think they come across as very confusing due to the lack of a period or a comma….. for the love of god, use them!
