Windsor Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a suspect wanted for a robbery of the Petro Canada Gas Station located at Tecumseh and Ouellette, Wednesday afternoon.

The male clerk of the gas station told police that a man had entered the store, approached the counter, placed a five dollar bill on the counter and asked the clerk for change. The suspect then brandished a steak knife, jumped over the counter and demanded all the money from the cash register. The clerk then opened the register and backed away from the suspect.

The suspect grabbed a quantity of cash from the till before jumping over the counter again and exiting the store.

The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Tecumseh Road East from the gas station. A K9 Unit attended the scene but was unable to track the suspect due to the large volume of pedestrian traffic in the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years, 5’8″, 180 lbs, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark grey long-sleeved sweat shirt, blue jeans and white running shoes.

The knife was described as being a steak knife with a 6″ blade. Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect or the robbery is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
