The Kordazone Theatre (2520 Seminole) strives to present Windsor audiences with plays that are original and challenging in their content, and in their most recent production, they are certainly living up to that standard.
In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play opens on May 31st, and I recently had the pleasure of speaking with director and board member Tracy Atin who describes this most recent productions as “fairly sensational, but very worthwhile.”
The story takes place at the dawn of the electric age, when afters hundreds of years of treating hysteria in women, doctors have finally had a breakthrough. As the wife of Dr. Givings becomes more and more curious about these women who enter her husband’s office distraught and leave glowing and relaxed, she begins to further explore her relationship.
While being recommended for mature audiences, this comedy is thought provoking and touching, with a brave and dedicated cast. One of the most realistic plays by Sarah Ruhl, it will be interested to see the Windsor take on this Tony Award Winning production.
Opening with a pay what you can presentation on Thursday, May 31st at 8 pm, you can also catch The Vibrator Play on June 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, or 9th. Tickets are $15, or $10 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at Nancy John’s Gallery (4755 Wyandotte St. E.), Motions 1 (3898 Walker Rd.), Juniper Books (1990 Ottawa St.) or Cardinal Music (2573 Jefferson Ave.).
