Firefighters prepare to pack up after extinguishing a fire

Windsor firefighters were called to Prince Metal Products / Canadian Electrocoating Limited for reports of an “oil pit” on fire shortly after 8:30pm Thursday evening.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke was pouring from ventilation units on the roof of the plant located in the 900 block of Prince Avenue.

Firefighters quickly worked to put out the fire which eventually burnt itself out.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer Lee Tome says that the fire started when a contractor was welding in the area of the oil pit.

There were no injuries and there is no word on how much damage was caused.
