On Friday, April 27th, Windsor’s TheSTiG celebrated their first release, an EP entitled This Lovely Filth, at FM Lounge (156 Chatham ST. W. Main Level)

They enlisted the talented Tony Coates to kick off the night, and he certainly did a fantastic job of that.

Tony blends indie acoustic rock with soul and hip-hop, creating a sound that is unique in Windsor. His rich voice captivates audiences while his acoustic guitar flows through each song. With an extensive library of original material and a number of covers that Tony really makes his own, you’ll never see the same set from him twice.  A new trick on Tony’s at this show was bringing up Soda Pop to accompany him for one last song, a track where he was also without his guitar, certainly a first. Their voices complimented each other well in this hip-hop slow-jam.

TheStiG is a three-piece rock band with some very definite 90’s and country influences. The EP was recorded with Mark Plancke at Shark Tank Studios and is an independent release.

For their performance, the band really dressed up the FM stage, adding a backdrop of stars, as well as some hanging from overhead, a table lamp, some fancy light work, and a screen that displayed a slideshow throughout their set, showing pictures of the band, some artwork, and a running commentary that went all over the place.
