Windsor Firefighters responded to the 3700 block of Montcalm Street on Windsor’s West End shortly after midnight, Monday morning for several calls for flames shooting into the sky.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a detached garage — fully engulfed in flames with flames shooting thirty feet in the air and brightening up the quiet neighbourhood located in the shadow of Windsor Regional Hospital’s Tayfour Campus.

Firefighters utilized a chainsaw to provide ventilation to the structure as the roof of the back half of the garage began to cave in.

The homeowner reported that he has been victim to numerous break-ins in his garage as of late. Police have been called to investigate. No injuries are reported, and damage to the garage is extensive.
