Windsor Firefighters have extinguished a fire that burned brightly in the night sky over Windsor.

Fire broke out shortly after 10pm on the roof of the Bell Canada building in Downtown Windsor at the corner of Goyeau and Giles. Flames and smoke were visible for kilometers.

Firefighters were able to hook up to the building’s standpipe and use the building’s firefighting equipment to fight the fire.

Officials report that the cause of the fire, while yet undetermined, appears to have started in an area where workers were working on a generator. Windsor Fire officials reported that pieces of the roof were what was burning brightly.
