Hello time traveller!!

This week’s edition of your best source for local music in town, The Windsor Scene, we will be welcoming Rayny Forster to the ariwaves.

While he is known for time spent in bands such as The Posers and Hulluus, Rayny’s most noticeable accomplishment, and the focus of our interview, will be Moshpit Tragedy Records, a label that since 2007 has dealt only in digital releases, and pioneered the sliding-scale download format. The label deals in hardcore and punk bands, with visitors to the MTR site able to set their own prices for the music they download.

“Moshpit Tragedy Records is a punk/metal label from Canada, which is proudly the very first label to fully adopt a pay-what-you-want (even nothing for most titles) download concept.

While focusing mainly on crust, grind and sludge for it’s own imprint, Moshpit Tragedy recently began partnering with other choice labels to include genres such as hardcore, death and black metal. To date, over 140 titles have been released across a fairly wide range of genres, although importance is placed on staying within a non-commercial scope.”

For your listening pleasure, Rayny will be bringing some of his favourites off the label, as well as a few tracks of his own work.

I will be rounding out the playlist with music from this past weekend’s shows, and those coming up in the next seven days. Bands to be played include; Against All Evil, Awake to a Dream, This Is War, Allison Brown, and The Wooden Sky.

So be sure to tune in to your local campus community radio station, CJAM 99.1 FM this Wednesday from 5 until 6:30 p.m. to join the fun. And for those outside the listening range, go ahead and stream us live online. The Windsor Scene is even available as an iTunes Podcast, so you can download the shows to listen over and over.
