Updated: The applicants for the event have withdrawn their request for a closure of Chatham Street; the party will be held entirely at the old bus depot.

After the success of last years St. Patrick’s Day street party at the old bus depot downtown, a group of bar owners are looking to do it once again.

The Downtown Business Improvement Association and the Downtown Residence Association have both endorsed the request, but a group of six downtown business owners on Chatham Street East have objected to it.

One of the group of six has told city administration that other establishments want to participate equally and financially in the event at the bus depot. They say last years event affected all of their businesses negatively.

Since there have been objections to the request to hold this event, the final decision will now lay with Windsor City Council on Tuesday February 21st.
