This year, the Womyn’s Centre at the University of Windsor has partnered with the Engineering Student Society to create a large and meaningful ceremony for the victims of the Montreal Massacre with an entire day of events for National Day of Remembrance of Violence Against Women.

From 10am to 4pm, a showcase of local organizations dedicated to ending violence against women as well as organizations who provide support for women in the Windsor/Essex community will be held in the CAW Student Centre Commons. From 4:30pm to 6:45pm the Montreal Massacre Memorial starts in the CAW Student Centre where there will be a walk to the Memorial of Hope, between Essex Hall and Dillon Hall. At the memorial, there will be a short memorium which will be promptly followed by a tribute to the 14 victims. The tribute will be delivered in French and English.

Following the memorial, particpants will be a walk to Vanier Hall’s Winclare A conference room for refreshments and the ceremony where the ceremony will be reopened by Theresa Sims, who will be followed by several speakers.  The night will be concluded with Keynote speaker, Dr. Renee Bondy.
