Police report that the man wanted in connection with the theft of a Poppy Donation Box from a 7-11 store near the University of Windsor on Monday morning is now in Windsor Police custody.

On Monday, November 7, 2011, a man was caught by the store surveillance video system removing a Poppy Donation Box from the counter at the store and replacing it with an empty box that he had retrieved from his backpack.  Investigators who viewed the video immediately identified the suspect as Thomas Lesperance.

At 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday the suspect turned himself in to officers at Windsor Police Headquarters where he was arrested.  He has been released on a Promise to Appear in court and will  face charges of Theft not Exceeding $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property Not Exceeding $5000.
