Tuesday evening, Trustees of the Greater Essex County District School Board publicly launched their 2011 We Care We Can food drive.

Again this year the Greater Essex County District School Board is working with its community partners, Mayflower Moving, area Rotary Clubs and the Windsor Spitfires to assist families in need.

Food collected by schools will be picked up by Mayflower Moving and delivered to the Unemployed Help Centre, where it will be organized and sorted by members of the Rotary Clubs and then distributed to members of the Food Banks Association of Windsor and Essex County.

The Trustees got the 5th annual campaign going by making some contributions of canned and non-perishable food items of their own.

In the first 4 years of the We Care We Can campaign, GECDSB schools have collected and contributed more than 500 tonnes of food.
