Windsor Police have two suspects in custody facing robbery charges after a woman was relieved of her purse in the Casino Windsor parking structure on Monday night. Police say that a 59 year old woman had been walking to her parked vehicle on the first floor of the garage when she was accosted by two men who ripped her purse out of her hand then fled on foot.
The victim received minor injuries while attempting to hold onto her purse but did not require medical treatment. The victim’s purse was located by a citizen on Tuesday morning near the intersection of Glengarry at Brant Streets. The purse was returned to the victim.
Police obtained surveillance video of the two suspects inside the Casino parking garage. Through further investigation, officers identified both suspects involved in the robbery.
Just after 9:00 am yesterday, officers attended an apartment building located in the 800 block of Wyandotte Street East and arrested one of the suspects in the rear alley behind the building as he attempted to exit the rear door.
Just after 4:00pm officers from the target Base Unit observed the second suspect standing at the corner of Wyandotte at Glengarry. Officers arrested the second suspect without incident.
Joseph Chamberlin age 43 and Matthew Melanson age 20, both of Windsor are each charged with one count of Robbery.
