Windsor Police are seeking the assistance of the public regarding a collision that took place between a sport utility vehicle and a cyclist last weekend.

Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 12:40 pm police responded to the area of Tecumseh Road East at Chilver Road for a report of a collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist.  Upon arrival, paramedics were already on the scene treating a 45 year old cyclist who was laying in the eastbound lanes of Tecumseh Road at Chilver Road  The cyclist was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital with non-life threatening head and leg injuries.

On scene was a 2002 Cadillac Escalade with moderate damage to the hood at rest next to the bicycle in the eastbound lanes of Tecumseh Road East Officers spoke to a 33 year old man who identified himself as the owner of the Cadillac.

Further investigation revealed that the Cadillac was travelling eastbound on Tecumseh Road in the curb lane approaching Chilver.  It appears that the cyclist was also travelling eastbound in the curb lane where he was struck from behind by the Cadillac causing the injuries and damage to the vehicles.  At the time of this release, the investigation is continuing and charges are pending. The cyclist remains in hospital in stable condition.

Windsor Police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone having any information regarding the collision to contact the Traffic Follow Up Unit at 519-255-6700 ext 4211 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
