Police Looking for Hit & Run Driver

Windsor Police are requesting the assistance of the public in locating the driver of a vehicle involved in a “hit and run” earlier this week in the city’s near east side.  At 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011, a 29 year old woman was driving her 2005 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Wyandotte Street East near Pierre Street. The woman advised police that traffic was “stop and go” at the time due to heavy traffic conditions.

The woman said she had stopped for traffic at some point and was struck from the rear by a gold coloured van driven by a man.  Immediately after being struck, the woman pulled into a parking lot to assess the damage and assumed that the driver of the van would follow her. Instead, the van continued on eastbound on Wyandotte Street and fled the accident scene. The collision caused minor damage to the woman’s vehicle.

The woman was able to obtain a partial licence plate # BAPW ___.  The van is described as a Ford van, gold in colour, with unknown damage.  The driver is described as a Male, Arabic, 30 years with dark brown hair and facial hair on his chin (partial goatee). The van also contained a female passenger wearing a hijab and a scarf covering her face.
