Following this Monday evenings in-camera meeting of Windsor City Council, Mayor Eddie Francis introduced Cathy Masterson as the new Manager of Cultural Affairs.

Cathy comes to Windsor from the City of Hamilton, Cultural Division Management Team.  Prior to that posting, she was the Cultural and Historical Services Manager for the Town of Okotoks in Alberta.  She has more than 25 years experience in the cultural field, which includes managing special projects, long-range planning and policy development, and administration for municipal services including a community art gallery, visitors centre and performing arts venue.

Cathy has an Ontario Management Development Certificate in Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, and she is currently working on her Master’s of Integrated Arts.  She is also a member of the Ontario Museum Association.

The City of Windsor’s Municipal Cultural Master Plan will switch into high gear with Cathy’s arrival, as she will be concentrating her efforts toward implementing key recommendations of the Plan.  One of her first undertakings will be to build stronger relationships with cultural organizations and establish partnerships with the sector.  She will also jump right into the planning process already underway for the Cultural Summit, which is scheduled to take place in November 2011.

Cathy assumes her new role as of Effective Tuesday, September 20th.  She can be reached at 519-253-2300 ext. 6162 or via email at: [email protected]
