This weekend the Windsor Symphony Orchestra continues its annual outdoor concerts with a series of three performances. “Sunsets and Quintets” will feature musicians Ross Turner, Phillip Seguin, Denise Root-Pierce, Rupert Price and Brent Adams. Performances are Friday Aug. 12 at Front Road Park in Lasalle, Aug. 13 at Navy Yard Park in Amherstburg and Sunday Aug. 14 at the Odette Sculpture Park at the foot of Bridge Ave. in the city’s west end. All shows start at 7 p.m. and are free to the public.

“The series of shows this weekend will feature our brass quintet,” said Jeth Mills, executive director of the WSO. “The outdoor series has proven to be very successful and well attended.”

This is the second and final set of outdoor summer concerts put on by the WSO. The first was in July and featured WSO woodwinds. Selections heard this weekend will include the music of Bach, Mozart and Strauss as well as contemporary movie and television composer Danny Elfman.

“Every town from Essex to Amherstburg has a place on the water for us to perform,” said Mills. “One third of WSO support comes from outside the city, so our eventual intention is to be able to play at every waterfront across the county.”
