As we had reported last week, the organizer of the 53rd Annual Tour di Via Italia, had planned to move it Downtown this September 4th because of ongoing construction on Erie Street.  The request was to go before Windsor City Council Monday night, but the organizers of the race have now withdrawn that request.

The course that was planned for the streets of Downtown Windsor would require more traffic and crowd control personal then the organizers say they could muster.

The race is planned to resume in 2012 when the streetscape work will be complete on Eire Street.
