Community biking is the main theme behind SB Contemporary’s current exhibition of I like to ride my bicycle. Last Thursday, members of the community came together to celebrate bike culture in attending the opening reception for the show. Guests almost filled up the whole SB Contemporary Arts’ Gallery, located at Church and Erie West. Aside from all the clouds of conversation that were bound to happen having friends and family around, snacks and refreshments were also available.

All of the submissions were from the community, and the amounts of experience ranged from amateur artists to professional. Mixed-media, sculpture, photography, and traditional paint on canvas were some of the mediums used for the show. The exhibition holds numerous perspectives, ideas, or even representations of what biking holds to the artist. It is especially comforting to see a celebration of bike culture in Windsor, as from July’s poll on WindsoriteDOTca shown that more people were safer riding on the sidewalk than on the road.

The show is currently running until September 10th, and general hours of operation are noon to 6 pm Tuesday to Friday, and noon until 4 pm on Saturday.

The exhibition goes hand in hand with Canada South Eco Tours, an affiliated cycling company that also works from the same building as SB Contemporary. There is an upcoming free tour to Boblo Island organized by Canada South Eco Tours that takes place September 9th and 10th.
