Mattress Causes Car Accident on Expressway

Windsor Police are seeking information regarding a single motor vehicle accident on the E.C. Row Expressway at Jefferson Blvd. which occurred last Tuesday.

A female driver  had been driving westbound in the center lane of the Expressway approaching Jefferson Blvd. when she encountered a queen sized mattress laying in the roadway directly in front of her car.  The vehicle hit the mattress causing it to roll onto its roof and strike the guard rail.  The vehicle then flipped back over and came to rest upright on the shoulder of the road.  The vehicle was totally demolished and the driver was transported to hospital where she was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that traffic on the Expressway had been moving at a normal speed and no other accidents had been reported leading the officers to believe that the mattress must have fallen off a vehicle just prior to the collision.  Witnesses did not observe the mattress fall from any vehicle and the area was dark at the time of the accident.

Investigators are requesting that anyone with any information regarding this incident or anyone who may have witnessed the mattress become dislodged from a vehicle on the E.C.
