Goodwill Industries of Essex Kent Lambton recently opened Windsor’s first Attended Donation Drive-Thru Centre.

Located at the corner of Clairview Avenue and Lauzon Road, Windsorites are envouraged to drop off gently used goods, such as clothing, books, furniture, housewares, toys and much more, to help the environment by diverting these items from landfills.

“The success of this donation centre relies on the community’s support,” says Chris Chartrand, Director of Marketing and Fund Development for Goodwill Industries of Essex Kent Lambton. “If you have items in good condition, don’t throw them away. Drop them off at your new donation centre and help create jobs.”

That’s right, every donation helps to spur employment. Your gently used goods are sold in retail stores, which fund employment training and counselling. These initiatives help individuals develop work and life skills, leading to employment. For every 50 people who donate at the site, one full-time job is created.

“Goodwill is unlike any other community donation program,” Chartrand continues. “This new donation centre is just the beginning of a plan to help change lives right here in Windsor.”

Goodwill’s future plans for Windsor-Essex include a retail store, scheduled to open once 50 donors use the new donation centre every day, and up to five more donation centres and two retail stores over the next five years, making an even bigger impact in the Windsor–Essex area.

The centre will be open seven days a week.  Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
