Charities that focus on youth in Windsor and Essex County will get a financial boost of more than $20,000 thanks to the students and staff at Holy Names Catholic High School.

This past Monday, more than 1000 staff and students took to the streets of South Windsor and walked more than seven kilometers during the fifth annual “We Walk for Kids Walkathon fundraiser”.  This money will be added to the more than $120,000, which has been dispersed to local charities from the four previous walkathons.

The event is an excellent demonstration of the Holy Names motto Aliis Non Sibi, (For Others Not Oneself).

This year, the following local youth charities will receive a donation on behalf of the Holy Names Community; St. Mary’s Family Learning Centre, Windsor-Essex Therapeutic Riding Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Autism Ontario, Windsor Essex We Care for Kids Foundation, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
